Wow... what a joy last night to be able to hear one of my favorite authors, John Eldredge, on his "Walking with God" book tour. My good bud, Dr. Shawn Labelle, got me a ticket, so along with his son Noah, Chase Cronin, and Jim Frady, we all sat together and THOROUGHLY enjoyed the evening in Spartanburg.
John is a dynamic communicator with such a humble and passionate heart for God. Everything he said just RESONATED in my heart and life - many of his words were almost the exact same things I am planning to say on Sunday in our series, "Meet the Holy Spirit". This week the talk is about: "When He Speaks".
John said he's convinced that listening to God and hearing Him speak to us is becoming a lost art in the Christian Community. Many Christians simply try to "figure out" life on their own - reading books, learning principles, seeing what others do or don't do, etc...
I'm convinced more than ever in my life to WALK and TALK with God and desire HIM to speak to me!!! Chad Norris said recently in our church, "I don't think the Holy Spirit will take you places you don't want or desire to go" - The more I've chewed on that, I totally agree. I know good people who are absolutely closed in their minds - their thinking. They basically have their hands over their ears towards God. What a sad way to live life. God is a COMMUNICATOR - of COURSE through his written word, but also in a personal way to his children. Here's how Paul worded this to the believers in Ephesus...
(Ephesians 1:17) I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
